Housing Justice and Tenant Organizing

Who We Are

We are Flint Hills Tenants United (FHTU), our chapter’s tenant organizing initiative. We are renters, neighbors, and organizers working across the Flint Hills region. Our organizers have trained through DSA’s Housing Justice Commission, including the Emergency Tenant Organizing Committee (ETOC) program, and through the Tenant Union Federation’s Union School.

What We Do

We help tenants build unions. The work starts with conversations: knocking on doors, listening to what people in a building are dealing with, and finding the issues neighbors are ready to act on. From there we help tenants form a union that can make demands, document unsafe conditions, and bargain with landlords. We connect those unions to each other and to the wider tenant movement, and we offer training and organizing support along the way. If you rent in the Flint Hills and want to organize your building, or want to support tenants who are, reach out and join us.
