Updates

  • New Website: We have made the switch from hosting our website on Github, which required a certain level of knowledge of various coding to make it functional, to hosting on Google Sites, which allows for those whom are less tech savvy to maintain the website. You may notice some slight changes. We are trying to build out a “resources page” and would love your suggestions for resources to be listed.
  • Chips and Chill: Chips and Chill is still taking place every Tuesday at 6:30pm at Mi Tierra in Aggieville. It’s very lowkey. Join us!
  • Graduates: Congratulations to Daniel and Mikey who graduated from Kansas State University!
  • Resolution 26-04: With the approval of April’s meeting minutes, Resolution 26-04, drafted by comrade Matt and co-proposed by comrades Mal and Derron, has passed, which establishes co-coordinator roles on the steering committee in relation to the recruitment, retention, and engagement of Black, Indigenous, and Community Members of Color and Black, Indigenous, and other Organizations of Color within the Flint Hills.
  • Steering Committee Elections: Steering committee elections will be held during our July Chapter Convention (details to be released at the June Chapter Meeting). If you are interested in serving on the steering committee in any capacity, please read over Article VI of the Chapter Bylaws. Additionally, if you are interested in serving as one of the co-coordinators as outlined in Resolution 26-04, please make sure you have read and understand the resolution.
  • Meeting Day Change: A proposal to change the day of the week that Chapter meetings will take place was made during the May Chapter meeting. Right now, we meet the second Thursday of each month for general body meetings. Steering Committee meets on the fourth Thursday of each month. If you are in favor of changing the regular meeting time, please draft a resolution using the resolution template.
  • Political Action & Mobilization Committee: Given the upcoming election season and the various attacks on communities around the Flint Hills and in Kansas by the Kansas Legislature, as well as outside entities (i.e., data centers), we voted to establish a Political Action & Mobilization Committee, of which Comrade Peter is heading. So far, organizing is taking place on the Discord server.

May Chapter Meeting

The May general body chapter meeting took place on May 14, 2026 at the Poyntz Shelter in City Park. You can access the meeting minutes here.

May Social

Comrade Matt hosted a May-the-fourth-be-with-you-on-Cinco-de-Mayo gathering at his place, which featured a bunch of yummy food from across Latin America, and comrades were able to catch up, socialize, and meet new folks, all while watching Episodes I and III of Star Wars.

June Chapter Meeting

The June chapter meeting will be held on June 11, 2026

June Social

Comrade Noah will host a BBQ at his house sometime in June. Keep an eye out for an invitation!

Community Involvement and Volunteer Initiatives Committee (CIVIC)

Building off of a strong meeting from this past month, CIVIC will be meeting on June 7, 2026. Details about location and time are forthcoming. Be on the look out!

Political Education Committee

Nerd Nite was success! We had a lot of fun nerding out over corsets and vowels! Chatter went until late into the evening.

We will take a break from hosting an event during June and July and focus on organizing what political education will look like in the future. If you are interested in giving input, please let us know your availability so we can schedule a meeting.

Housing Justice and Tenant Organizing Working Group

The Housing Justice and Tenant Organizing Working Group will meet this coming Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 3pm on the Flint Hills Tenants United Discord Server

If you are interested in participating in this working group, please fill out this survey before then.

Additionally, you can find a working agenda for the meeting (and add to it) here

The Tenant Union Federation is also offering their Tenant Organizing School again this year. Applications are due June 15. Some of us took the course last year (and Derron is planning on taking it again this year since he had to drop out last year) and it is REALLY well done. For more information, see the TUF Application.

Political Action and Mobilizing Committee

Currently, the PAMC is working on fighting against the construction of a large data center in Pottawatomie County. If you are interested in getting involved, reach out to Comrade Peter and join our Chapter Discord.
